The Lesson of the Week 👏
We are better when we do things together
For our lesson of the week, we are going to remember the great Martin Luther King Jr. and the many lessons he left us with. In remembrance of his great legacy for the Civil Rights Movement and his unquestionable impact on American history, MLK chose to solve problems by building bridges among the American people and later the world.
“We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead.”
He showed us how we can work together to solve problems larger than ourselves. On March 25th, 1965, Martin Luther King led nonviolent demonstrators from Selma to Montgomery. He championed for change of the voting rights of African Americans, ending legal segregation, and demanding equal justice for all citizens under the law.
None of this would have been possible if he had done this alone with his own power. By recognizing the problem was larger than him, MLK had the wisdom to partner with every local community regardless of color to march for unity.
